Ancient Ukrainian dish. Not only every village in Ukraine , but also every woman in the Cossack lands has a unique recipe for borsch. Borsch “Mezhyhirskyi” is an old Cossack soup recipe, which had the Cossacks who lived to the end of there lifes as a monk at Savior-Transfiguration Cossack Monastery, or as they called it – ‘Mezhyhirskyi’. This monastery was a Cossack refuge for wounded or sick, retired officers Cossacks of Zaporozhska Sich and it was located in 20 km north of Kyiv in the suburbs of Vyshgorod.
